CD Review (V/A) “No Reservations” – Decca Records
First off, I really don’t like soundtracks for the most parts. Too many of them feature extremely lazy work by so called music directors of these films,I mean seriously, how many times can you plug in “Y.M.C.A.” or “I Will Survive” on these CDs? Or grab a throw away song from the label’s roster just to put their name on a crappy soundtrack just to sell a few more copies?
But I admit, I was pretty down with “No Reservations”. It has a awesome cast in a pair of my favorite actors,Aaron Eckhart and the beautiful Catherine Zeta-Jones. The story of a hot chef (Zeta-Jones) being forced to take care of her niece is pretty tired but the music is a plus. Featuring many different Italian opera pieces that you don’t normally hear outside a Macroni Grill (and a big thumbs up…no flipping Sinatra or Martin) mixed with some fine score themes by Phillip Glass keeps this bubbling along…
Michael Buble supplies the single for this film with his fine version of the classic “Sway”. Its a nice topping to a decent soundtrack…
Recommended.
